K2 AND BROAD PEAK: SUMMER OF 2021

In the summer of 2021, I traveled to Pakistan to make a documentary about those who had remained there during the winter. While working on the film, I climbed to Camp 3 on K2 (7,200 m). On July 18, I summited Broad Peak without supplemental oxygen and without personal support, becoming the first of the season to do so, together with Hugo Ayaviri from Bolivia and Niels Jespers from Belgium.

During the descent, I took part in a rescue operation for a mountaineer who had fallen with a cornice onto the Chinese side. After ten hours of effort, we managed to bring her safely back to Camp III on Broad Peak.
