NANDA DEVI EAST – MAY 2019

In May 2019, I joined the 80^TH anniversary expedition to Nanda Devi East (7434 m above sea level) as a filmmaker.

This is a summit located in India. It was summited for the first time by Poles in 1939. Then it was the first Polish Expedition to the Himalayas. Eighty years later, we returned to India in a team of 10 (including the grandson of the first summiter).

On June 27th, 2019, two participants of the expedition – Jarosław Gawrysiak and Wojciech Flaczyński – reached the summit. For the first time in my life, I climbed to a height of 6.000 meters and made some interviews with climbers returning from the summit.

After the expedition I prepared a documentary „Nanda Devi East: Mountain of Happiness” (Nanda Devi East: Góra Szczęścia).
